Joy! More Joy! This was the blessing for the New Year that arose from the recent winter retreat.
I talk about joy a lot, but even I needed the reminder. I’m starting the year off walking closely with loved ones who are in deep uncertainty and facing loss. We are barraged with news of people in our community and our world who are suffering.
The retreat was a great moment to remember there is a deeper arc that we can choose – to become more loving, more authentic, and more joyful no matter what life throws us.
The core discipline is to keep filling your cup so that you can be generous about how you pour yourself into the world. There are many small things you can do this minute to fill you cup: breathing deeply, appreciating a tree from your window, or unplugging and connecting with your loved ones.
Today I want to share with you the joy that comes from having a consistent practice for connecting with life energy. Jill has been dancing with me in a variety of ways for the past three years and recently wrote a wonderful note about how the practice has changed her. I find her words so inspiring and hope they may also be for you.
I wish you sustaining joy for 2016.
