What will you do for love?

Wow, I cannot tell you how wonderful it has been to resume outdoor group classes. I love seeing people in the flesh! I’ve even seen some bare feet. I love the beauty and relative warmth of spring. It feels like a homecoming. The wholeness I feel when I am mindfully Read more…

How I’m finding my May Day spirit during a pandemic

What I’ve always loved about spring in Minnesota is that people emerge out of the isolation of winter. No longer sheltering inside from the cold, I will see neighbors that that I haven’t seen for months. Unbundled from our layers of parkas, scarves, and hats, we see each other anew. Read more…

Time Out

A video message because I miss being in person with you. And a recap of the questions I’m asking: What do you want this time to feel like? How do you want to use your time now? How do you want to be changed by this experience? Where do you Read more…

Only 20% Hopeless

My father is visiting and one of the great benefits is that he fixes things for me. He has glued the bench, hammered the loose shingle, and applied WD-40 to the sticky lock. I get a little thrill out of things being fixed up. It is so satisfying when a Read more…

Why focusing on water is so transformative

I have just returned from a deep dive into the woods. During my retreat we opened up big questions about how we participate in the universe’s unfolding story. This work shakes up our entire worldview – in a good way! I love the big picture. But at the end of Read more…

Moving from empty change to transformation

Here is a nasty double bind. So many people I know are just trying to tread water while their lives heave and change. At the same time the suffering in our communities calls for major changes on many levels. We resist and long for change at the same time! What’s Read more…

The Journey is Long

This past weekend I participated in the Minnehaha Creek Water Walk, a prayer walk that traveled the 22 miles from Lake Minnetonka to the Mississippi River. Sharon Day, an Ojibwe elder, led this ceremony. Before you think about being impressed by my long distance walking skills, I should tell you Read more…

How About Just Faking It?

For many of us the suffering in the news triggers all sorts of pain. While I aspire to live out of a deep trust of love and life, when I’m triggered this trust feels almost impossible. How about just faking it? Qigong Master Chunyi Lin has taught me the healing Read more…

Did someone stop the music?

Things haven’t been going as expected. All sorts of stuff, big and small, is going down. Most notably, earlier this month while I was in Greece my mother-in-law died and I needed to cut my trip short to return for her funeral. Sometimes it feels like someone stopped the music. Read more…

More Being

What more do I need to do? This question is top of mind as I prepare to travel to Greece next week. I’ll be there for Greek Easter and to study dance. My mind is definitely preoccupied with my packing list and tying up loose ends. I can get quite Read more…
